  1. Carradine should have been the definitive Count. He had the right height, build, face and distinguished classically-trained actor’s voice, and wanted to play it closer to Stoker’s description. Yet he comes across disappointingly bland, and I think Chaney jr is more distinctive. Of course, the films he’s in do him no favours. But he’s little more than an efficient placeholder between Lugosi and Lee.
