A great read – thanks. Surely Mr Hyde is the ultimate monster – ourself! Gasp, choke. ‘Our Monsters, Our Selves’ and all that. Anyone else think Hollywood Boulevard credits were simple accuracy and that Godzilla is and always was a She?
P.S. Most pertinent to point out that the Jekyll of the Novella is a hypocritical bad man who wishes to create a persona by which he can live out his worst excesses. I can picture a Thriller or One Step Beyond where the police track the monster to the lab and apprehend him, and test the elixir thus: ‘what’s in it, inspector?’ ‘why, nothing more than harmless sugared water’. (You see? You see??).
