  1. Despite her monstrous behaviour(and appearance, there is an indefinable SOMETHING about Vanessa that makes me think she is as much victim as victimizer(shades of Countess Zaleska in the 1936 film “Dracula’s Daughter”). She has not only been deprived of her beloved consort Dracula and is stranded in a strange foreign country(the US)with no hope of returning to their native Romania but is apparently the sole surviving member of the vampire race in existence(how this is the case is NOT made clear in the film). Do I dare believe that it is possible for a vampire’s heart(even if it does not beat in the conventional sense of the word)could experience grief over the loss of a loved one? Do I dare to even think of kissing Vanessa’s heart in order to relieve her anguish?
